Accessibility Statement
The Irish Building Control Institute (IBCI) wants as many people as possible to be able to use this website. This statement covers www.ibci.ie.
How accessible this website is
We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 (opens in new tab) at level AA, which is the standard used by EN 301 549 and the European Accessibility Act.
The website pages are partially compliant with WCAG 2.1 AA. The parts that are not fully accessible are listed below.
Known problems
- Conference presentations: many of the older PDF presentations on the Conferences page are not tagged, so screen readers may read them in the wrong order or miss headings and tables. These were supplied by the speakers.
- Membership application form: the Word version of the form is laid out in tables and does not use heading styles, which can make it hard to fill in with a screen reader. Completed forms have to be returned by post.
If you need any of this information in a different format, such as an accessible PDF, large print or plain text, please email us and we will do our best to help.
Changing how the website looks
This website works with your browser's own settings. For example, you can:
- zoom in up to 400% without text disappearing off the screen: press Ctrl and + (Cmd and + on a Mac), or pinch to zoom on a phone
- change the text size, colours and fonts in your browser or device settings
- move around the website using only a keyboard
- use a screen reader, or the read-aloud feature built into your browser
You can also use the Aa button in the menu to make the text on this website larger or smaller. Your choice is remembered on every page.
Links that open in a new browser tab are marked with an arrow.
AbilityNet's My Computer My Way (opens in new tab) explains how to make your device easier to use.
Reporting a problem
If you find a problem that is not listed here, or you cannot use part of the website, please email info@ibci.ie. Tell us the web address of the page and what the problem is.
